A Spanish three-way race for Ben Arfa

Hatem Ben Arfa, who has been without a club since his contract with Rennes expired at the end of June, is being courted by three La Liga clubs, according to L’Equipe.

As relayed by Sport, the French outlet’s report states that Espanyol, Real Betis and Leganes are all interested in bringing the 32-year-old Frenchman to their respective stadiums. There is, however, interest in his services outside Spain as well.

Ben Arfa’s career has been a turbulent one. Before joining Rennes, the attacking midfielder wore the colours of Olympique Lyon, Olympique Marseille, Newcastle United, Hull City, Nice and Paris Saint-Germain. His last season with the Ligue 1 champions, 2017/18, was a torrid one during which he failed to make a single competitive appearance.

He played 15 international games for France, though the last one was back in 2016.

Sport believe that the biggest issue the clubs chasing his signature face is matching his salary demands, but they all hope they will be able to reach an agreement of some sort.
