Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla sign new Arsenal deals; Wigan bring in Jack Collison

Arsenal F.C. have confirmed Aaron Ramsey, Gedion Zelalem and Santi Cazorla have put pen to paper on new contracts with the club.

Arsenal F.C. have confirmed Aaron Ramsey, Gedion Zelalem and Santi Cazorla have put pen to paper on new contracts with the club.

Ramsey, 23, has been sidelined since December with a thigh injury but was on absolutely cracking form earlier this season.

The Wales captain has tallied eight goals and six assists in 18 English Premier League appearances for the Gunners this term, while team-mate Santi Cazorla has added four goals and four assists in 23 league appearances.

Cazorla, who joined Arsenal from Malaga CF for a fee of €21 million in August 2011, has been an integral part of the Arsenal first-team since arriving from Spain.

The Spain international, and Arsenal Player of the Season in 2012/13, is delighted to have inked a new deal with the North Londoners.

“I’m so happy to have signed a new contract with Arsenal,” Cazorla told the club’s official website, arsenal.com. This club makes me very happy – the manager, my team-mates, the fantastic supporters, the stadium and the whole organisation here.

“I have had a great time with the Club since joining nearly two years ago, and I think that we can be a big player in competing for the top trophies in years to come and that’s important for me. I have already had lots of good moments here and hopefully there will be many more to come.”

In addition, Arsenal also handed 17-year-old German whizkid his first professional contract after making an impression on Arsene Wenger in pre-season.

Arsene Wenger said: “We are very pleased that Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Gedion Zelalem have committed their futures to the Club.

“Cazorla and Ramsey are absolutely key players for us, and this news is a boost to the whole club. Gedion is very young of course, but he has shown already that he has fantastic promise, and we all look forward to his development with us.”

Next up for Arsenal is a league date with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Can Ramsey, who is expected to return from injury in the very near future, help the Gunners make a late push for the Premier League title?

Wigan bring in Jack Collison

Football League Championship side Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of West Ham United midfielder Jack Collison on loan for the rest of the season, Sky Sports understands.

The Wales international, 25, has made just 10 league appearances for the Hammers in 2013/14 and was sent out on loan to AFC Bournemouth earlier this term.

With Ben Watson, Chris McCann and Roger Espinoza sidelined for the foreseeable future, the addition of Collison will give manager Uwe Rosler a much-need body in midfield for the Latics’ late season push for the promotion play-offs.

“After we lost Ben, Chris and Roger, we have now brought in two great signings in Ryan Tunnicliffe and Jack Collison,” said Rosler.

“Jack is exactly what we needed, he can play in a few different positions, has terrific experience of both the Premier League and the Championship and will heighten competition for places as we move into the crucial last few weeks of the season.”

Collison has bagged one goal and one assist in 23 appearances in all competitions for club’s and country this season.
