Barcelona B striker Abel Ruiz has admitted his future may lie away from the Catalan club.
In an interview to EFE from the Spain U-21 camp relayed by Sport, the 19-year-old revealed he had the choice to leave the club in the summer. He was linked most heavily with Sevilla who were on the lookout for just such a player, but instead he chose to stay put and continue playing in the Segunda B, and work hard to get into the first team. Head coach Ernesto Valverde is apparently a big admirer of the teenager, but as things stand at the moment, it seems he doesn’t deem Ruiz ready to make the step up.
It also seems that Ruiz’s patience is slowly running out. He said his first choice had always been a career at Barcelona, but he admitted that there comes a time when a player must look at his own best interest first.
