(GSM) – On Wednesday, Barcelona announced their sixth contract extension in the last five months. Eric Abidal signed a new deal which ties him to the club until 2012, one year longer then his previous contract with the Catalans. The buy-out clause in his contract remains unchanged at €90 million.
“I feel good in this team,” Abidal said on the club’s official website. “This is the best club in the world and the longer that I’m here, the better it is for me.” Abidal joined Barca from Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2007 and since then has become a regular at left back.
The 30-year-old French international left back is the sixth player to have renewed his contract with Barca this season after Yaya Toure, Victor Valdes, Pedro, Lionel Messi and Carles Puyol.
