Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has vowed to end his career at Camp Nou.

His positive reaction comes shortly after the club’s vice president Josep Maria Bartomeu said an agreement over a contract extension was close.

The France international’s current deal with the Camp Nou outfit expires at the end of the season.

Bartomeu said the club are keen for Abidal ‘to continue’ there, and the defender is ready to accept if they can agree a settlement over new terms.

“The club wants to extend my deal and I want to continue my adventure with Barcelona,” Abidal told Telefoot.

“Like I have always said before, I want to end my career at Barcelona.”

“Things are complicated, but it’s clear we will reach a solution. I think we can all reach an agreement.”

Abidal was an unused substitute for Barcelona in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Zaragoza in La Liga.
