Tammy Abraham is reportedly set to be offered a new contract at Chelsea.
As reported by The Telegraph, there was some uncertainty about the duration of the young striker’s current deal, which was supposed to last until 2022. However, Abraham has activated a clause, relating to the number of appearances and goals scored, which has extended its validity for further 12 months. This means the club are under no pressure whatsoever to act to protect themselves from the prospect of losing the talented 22-year-old in the near future.
Nonetheless, despite securing the services of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and the fine form Olivier Giroud has been showing recently, Chelsea have decided to reward Abraham for his own fine performances this season with a new contract and improved terms. The club gave new contracts to youngsters Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Reece James and Billy Gilmour over the last 12 months, with no rush over Abraham due to the extension mentioned.
However, it’s his turn now.
