Abraham set for Newcastle loan switch

Newcastle United are closing in on the season-long loan signing of Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham, according to the Mail Online.

The nineteen year old is fresh from a successful spell with Bristol City, where his twenty-three league goals – a tally only bettered by Leeds United’s Chris Wood – was key in securing their Championship status.

Fellow top flight newcomers Brighton and Hove Albion and 2016 Champions Leicester City had also been interested in striking a deal though it looks as if the Magpies have won the race to secure his services.

Abraham had made two appearances for his parent club, both as a substitute in the league during the 2015/16 campaign, coming off the bench in the 1-1 draws against Liverpool and Leicester.

Internationally, he has been capped twice for England’s U21s and scored twice as they beat Bosnia and Herzegovina in qualifying for the 2017 European Championships in Poland.
