The Coppa Italia is one of the premier competitions in Italian football but last night, we didn’t get the a action we were all hoping for when AC Milan collided with Inter Milan in the first leg of their semi-final tie. Both teams had moments of joy but in the end, we were left with a 0-0 draw that will be taken back to the San Siro for the second and decisive leg on April 20.

AC’s missed opportunity

AC Milan are judged by many to be in better form at this moment in time when compared to rivals Inter and on the night, that showed. They edged them out in terms of chances created with Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao both probably feeling like they should’ve, and could’ve, done more with their opportunities on goal. With Inter technically being the home team in the second leg, they’ll take this result every day of the week.

Juve/Fiorentina confidence?

Juventus and Fiorentina will meet in their own semi-final first leg this evening and while they can’t exactly know for sure how the final is going to go if they get there based on this game alone, they should be feeling confident. The Milan clubs both have a title race to focus on moreso than Juve or Fiorentina and because of that, their own passion for winning the gold, and more than likely should, increase as the countdown goes on.

The message of peace

Andriy Shevchenko, known by many as an AC Milan legend, is also a Ukrainian hero and has been for many years now. Prior to kick-off he posted the following message that was broadcast on the big screen, prompting a positive response from the crowd in attendance.

“Italian friends, please make your voices heard… Ukrainians want peace because peace has no borders,” he said.
