Last night we saw one of the most exciting games of the Serie A campaign so far as AC Milan and Roma played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the San Siro.

The two Italian juggernauts traded blows for all 90 minutes and when the dust had settled, they were left with a point apiece. Today, we’re going to take a look at a few things we’ve come to learn in the immediate aftermath of the full time whistle blowing.

The power of Zlatan

At the age of 39 it seems inconceivable to think that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still one of the deadliest strikers in world football – and yet, here we are. The Swede continued his phenomenal start to the season with two goals last night, and at this stage, you’d have to say that it seems unlikely Milan would have as much momentum as they do without Zlatan firing in the goals for them. Of course, it isn’t going to last forever, and supporters need to prepare themselves for that.

Roma’s grit

For years now Roma have been on the outside looking in at the likes of Juventus and Napoli, and if we go back further than that, the two Milan clubs. They will forever be known for the impact they’ve had on Italian football but that really isn’t going to be enough for their loyal set of fans. They want to be in the mix and in the title race and while they’re a long way off down in 9th place, one loss from their first five league games is definitely progress.

Still work to do

While Milan have looked far, far better this season than they have done in the last few years, that doesn’t really feel like the part fans should be focusing on right now. They were in the lead on three separate occasions but for whatever reason they just couldn’t put Roma away. They have to fix the defensive issues that they have if they’re serious about a push further up the table, and if they do, 888sport‘s odds of 13/2 for them to win Serie A could start to shorten dramatically.
