AC Milan have confirmed that they have contacted Napoli over the possibility of signing goalkeeper Pepe Reina this summer.
Speaking for Sky Sports Italia, Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli said the Rossoneri have contacted Napoli to ask for permission to talk to Reina’s agent. He expressed the club’s desire to follow the proper procedure in the business.
The move for the former Liverpool goalkeeper naturally raises questions about the future of Gianluigi Donnarumma. Despite the defeat to Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday, he 19-year-old put in a good individual performance in that game. With AC Milan looking likely to miss out on Champions League next season again, Donnarumma continues to be mentioned in regards of a possible summer departure, despite signing a new contract last year, one that should hold him bound to Milan until 2021.
The 35-year-old Spaniard is therefore set to be offered a three year contract that should bring him to Giuseppe Meazza this summer.
