AC Milan eyeing Fernando Gago
Sport Mediaset is reporting that AC Milan are hot on the trail of Boca Juniors midfielder Fernando Gago.
The Rossoneri have been quite busy this summer, having already secured the signatures of Alex and Jeremy Menez, but they are working hard on new reinforcements.
Sport Mediaset has suggested that AC Milan plan to make a move on Boca Juniors star Fernando Gago as they need a replacement for injured captain Riccardo Montolivo.
The 28-year-old surprisingly opted to return to La Bombonera following a somewhat disappointing spell with Valencia, but he has remained on the radar of Europe’s top clubs.
AC Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi has been impressed with the midfielder’s performances for Argentina at the 2014 World Cup and he hopes to lure Gago to San Siro in the summer transfer window.
The experienced footballer should start Argentina’s final group game against Nigeria, where Los Albicelestes are 4/7 to extend the winning run.
Belgium starlet on Spurs radar
Tottenham Hotspur are readying bid for Lille forward Divock Origi, the Daily Mirror has revealed.
Spurs attack is likely to undergo some changes following the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino and it appears the Argentine manager is keen on luring the Belgium starlet to White Hart Lane.
Tottenham will test Lille’s resolve with a £6 million bid, although chances are they will need to submit an improved offer if they want to get their man.
After showing a great deal of potential in French Ligue 1, where he was usually deployed on the left wing, Origi made Belgium’s World Cup squad as Christian Benteke was ruled out through injury.
The 19-year-old showed a great deal of promise in his two substitute appearances at the tournament finals, acting as a centre forward, scoring the only goal in the 1-0 triumph over Russia.
Origi has come through the youth ranks at Lille and has so far featured in 40 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 6 goals.
Marseille win chase for Batshuayi
French giants Marseille are on the verge of signing Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi from Standard Liege, L’Equipe has learned.
The 20-year-old has become one of the hottest commodities in European football following a very impressive season in Belgium’s top flight, and he finally seems ready to leave Liege.
According to L’Equipe, Marseille have managed to pip a number of high-profile sides to the player’s signature.
The youngster has revealed via his Twitter account that he is set to announce some big news soon, which is enough to suggest he could be signing for OM in the coming weeks.
Marseille have moved to recruit the talented forward as star striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is widely expected to leave this summer.
Michy Batshuayi, who had come through the youth ranks at Standard, has scored a total of 21 goals in 38 league fixtures last season.
