Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli could be returning to AC Milan, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Reds manager Brendan Rodgers informed the Italian that he is no longer in his first team plans, but there has so far been very little interest in his services.
Nevertheless, former club AC Milan appear ready to offer Balotelli an escape route from Anfield, with the striker meeting coach Sinisa Mihajlovic in Florence to discuss the possibility of returning to San Siro.
A season-long loan appears on the cards at the moment, and it only remains to be seen whether a buy-out option will be included.
Mario Balotelli joined the Reds from AC Milan in a €20 million deal exactly a year ago, but he largely struggled to prove his worth in English Premier League.
The forward went on to make mere 16 league appearances for the club, scoring just one goal, and his short spell with Liverpool is clearly drawing to a close.
