Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has emerged as a top target for Serie A outfit AC Milan, Tuttosport can reveal.
The Rossoneri have less than two weeks to make things right and properly reinforce their ranks, and they plan to make the Croatian footballer their marquee signing of the summer.
AC Milan hope to sign Kovacic on loan with an option to buy, but it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will be interested in such an arrangement.
It was at Inter Milan that the Croatia international had made a name for himself, and he could now be returning to the same city, albeit crossing the great divide.
Kovacic was sold to Real Madrid last summer, but has seen his first team opportunities at Santiago Bernabeu severely limited, making just 8 La Liga starts.
At the same time, AC Milan are looking at Rodrigo Caio and Anwar El Ghazi, who are more likely to arrive in January.
