Lazio’s chances of winning this season’s Serie A title have been reduced to rubble after they were beaten, unexpectedly but comprehensively, at home by AC Milan.
A luckily deflected long-range effort by Hakan Calhanoglu, an even luckier penalty taken by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and a nice team move finished by Ante Rebic, were enough to secure the visitors a 3-0 triumph. Meanwhile, league leaders and title defenders Juventus beat Torino 4-1 in the city’s derby and the gap between them and Lazio is now seven points. There is, of course, eight rounds to go and anything is possible, but a team with as much quality as Juventus have will not lightly drop that lead.
