AC Milan are set to continue their summer spending spree into the January transfer window with an £80m bid for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to the Guardian.
Milan spent £175m in the summer on various players, the most notable to whom was Juventus central defensive stalwart Leonardo Bonucci. The club strengthened in all positions in an effort to challenge for the Serie A title again after a long period of absence from Italian title races. However Vincenzo Montella’s side have had a difficult start to the season and find themselves in seventh position in the league, nine points off leaders Napoli.
Perhaps as a result of this poor start new owner Li Yonghong is ready to spend big again in January, and the club are targeting Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero to help catapult them to a Scudetto. The Argentinian forward had scored six in six Premier League games before suffering a broken rib in a car accident last month.
However manager Pep Guardiola does still not seem to favour Aguero, instead preferring young Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus. This could pave the way for a January move for Aguero, who has scored 176 goals for Manchester City, especially if the striker breaks Eric Brook’s goal-scoring record before then.
