The Mirror understands that Adam Johnson is looking to leave Manchester City at the end of the season after missing out on England’s Euro 2012 squad.
The highly rated midfielder believes the lack of first team opportunities at Etihad seriously damaged his chances of making the Euro 2012 squad and is now determined to leave the club in search of first team football.
The 24-year-old was only used sparingly this season and in spite of impressing almost every time he was on the pitch, Johnson started just 10 Premier League games this term.
The player has now set his sights on leaving Etihad and it is fair to say there will be no shortage of offers come summer transfer window.
Sunderland have already expressed interest in the promising winger, but there are no doubts few more Premier League clubs will join the race.
Manchester City chiefs are unlikely to stand in the player’s way as they could use the cash to fund new signings, although Johnson’s £70,000 weekly wage could prove to be a problem for the interested sides.
