Charlie Adam hopes to improve on his last visit to the Emirates Stadium when Scotland tackle Brazil in a friendly on Sunday.
Adam, 25, was in the Blackpool team on the wrong end of a 6-0 thrashing by Arsenal in the English Premier League last August.Blackpool have gone on to record impressive victories against the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham, but their first away trip in the top flight remains a painful memory for Adam.”I remember the last trip to the Emirates only too well and I?m hoping it won?t be the same scoreline,” Adam said.”That was our first away game in the Premier League and we were new to the level and not used to it.””We had a man sent off and Arsenal outplayed us ? the 6-0 scoreline says it all.”Scotland’s meeting with Brazil is arguably a similar mismatch, but Adam is relishing the challenge of facing the five-time World Cup winners.”Yeah, it should be an easy game,” he said jokingly. “But it is games like this that you learn most from, because Brazil are one of the best teams in the world and we will be up against such quality players.””Every time I step out on the pitch for my country is a proud moment.””Just look at Brazil?s team ? Ronaldinho, Kaka, (Dani) Alves. Any time you can step on the pitch with players like these it has to be a very proud moment.”While the match is technically a Scotland home game, it will take place in London for commercial reasons, rather than Glasgow’s Hampden Park. Nevertheless, Adam is expecting a large contingent to make the journey south and turn the Emirates tartan for the day.”It?ll be like a home game and I?ll be looking forward to it,” he said.”They always say Scotland fans go for a good time.””They?ll be there in their numbers to support the team and hopefully we?ll get a good result for them and they can have a great weekend.”
