Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam will return to training with the Championship outfit on Monday.
The Scot was the shining light in Blackpool’s solitary English Premier League season last term and was the target of interest from the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham in January.
But the Seasiders fought off interest in him, in the hope it would help them remain in the Premier League, a quest which was ultimately unsuccessful.
A clause in Adam’s contract was triggered at the end of the season to keep him at Blackpool for a further year, but recently Liverpool have recently held talks with the club in the hope of signing him.
And although a transfer to a Premier League club appears the most likely option, all Adam can focus on is returning to training for the moment.
“I go back to Blackpool on Monday and that’s the way it is,” Adam told the Blackpool Gazette.
“Everybody knows the situation – the club have met with Liverpool but that’s as far as it has gone. I had a conversation with the chairman but that will remain private.”
“It’s important that we keep everything in-house – whatever happens will happen.”
