Real Madrid reserve goalkeeper Antonio Adan wants to prove his worth in Wednesday’s Champions League Group D match against Ajax.
Adan, 24, made his Champions League debut this season in Real’s 6-2 home win over Dinamo Zagreb on matchday five.
He will get another chance to impress on Wednesday at the Amsterdam Arena, with first-choice goalkeeper Iker Casillas set to be rested.
“I’ve been working a long time to be ready so that fans don’t notice Iker is absent when he doesn’t play,” Adan said.
“I’m ready and the coach has faith in me. This means I’m doing a good job; that’s why he’s giving me the chance to play.”
“It will be special to me and I’m sure I’ll be very happy. I’ve been dreaming about playing a Champions League match against a great side at a famous venue since I was a child and it will come true on Wednesday.”
“It is incredibly important to me.”
Adan said Real will be taking the match against Ajax seriously, even though they have already qualified for the last 16 as Group D winners.
“The whole team and I feel the responsibility of having to win in Amsterdam,” he said.
“Our duty is to do a good job whenever we’re on the pitch because this club has a great following that deserves that.”
