Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor is hoping to extend his stay with Tottenham following a successful loan spell at White Hart Lane.
The Togo international scored 18 goals in 37 appearances for Spurs last season and is believed to be free to leave the Premier League champions before the next campaign.
Adebayor wrote on his Twitter account: “Loved my spell at Tottenham. We are working hard with the chairman to make it permanent. Will keep you informed!!”
The former Arsenal man’s wage demands are believed to be the only stumbling block to a deal, as City look to shed some of the high salaries accrued during their rise to the league’s summit.
The 28-year-old reportedly earns 170,000 pounds per week with the Manchester club, and they are believed to have contributed 100,000 pounds per week of this during his loan spell.
Adebayor also spent the second half of last season on loan away from City, scoring eight goals in 22 appearances for Real Madrid.
