Manchester City have agreed to let striker Emmanuel Adebayor join Juventus on loan in January, according to the Togo international.
Adebayor, 26, has not been part of manager Roberto Mancini’s plans so far this season, starting most matches on the substitutes’ bench amid reports of a falling out between manager and player.
The former Arsenal frontman has begun just six matches so far this English Premier League campaign.
“I don’t know what I did wrong to Roberto Mancini, but he never makes me play,” he told Sport/Foot Magazine. “I’m going to change air during the transfer window in January.”
“And I can tell you that City has already reached an agreement with Juventus for a loan. I therefore expect to be able to leave in December.”
Adebayor only joined the City revolution 18 months ago when former manager Mark Hughes signed him from the Gunners. But after Hughes was dismissed midway through last season and replaced by Mancini, the striker has seemingly fallen out of favour at Eastlands.
This is not the first time he has been linked with a move to the Turin giants, with Adebayor appeared on the verge of joining Juve in August at the same time that City were making their move for Internazionale forward Mario Balotelli.
It now appears as though Adebayor’s frustrations with his lack of first-team opportunities under Mancini have reached the point of no return.
“Until some time ago I would not have accepted offers from other teams. I wanted to wear the City shirt and have a better season than I did last year,” he said.
“But I have now realised there will not be many chances for me to play and so I am considering the many offers I have received. Juventus are a great club where I would like to play.”
