Adebayor rules out City return; Santos chairman believes Neymar will sign new deal

Adebayor rules out City return

Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has ruled out a return to Eastlands when his loan deal with Tottenham ends.

The Togolese forward was desperate to make a permanent move to Real Madrid after spending last season on loan at Santiago Bernabeu, but los Blancos eventually decided not to take up the option to sign him outright.

Adebayor completed a loan move to Tottenham few days before the transfer window closed and he is now adamant he won’t be returning to Eastlands.

“It’s too early to say whether I’ll stay, but the love between Manchester City and myself is broken” Adebayor was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.  .

“I still have three years left on my contract and even at the end of this season, another two. I will decide on my career in April or May.”

The forward admits he is fully focused on his new club.

”Now, I want to help Tottenham. I have nothing to prove to Manchester City. Everyone in the country knows what I am capable of.

”I’ve got nothing to prove to them. What am I going to prove to Garry Cook and Brian Marwood?

“For me, if you don’t allow me to train with a professional team, there is something wrong there.

“So, for me, it’s over. I have to take the positives out of it. I have the chance to play for Tottenham and that’s all that matters now.”

Santos chairman believes Neymar will sign new deal

Santos president Luis Ribeiro is confident star striker Neymar will sign a new deal with the Brazilian club.

The 19-year-old is rated as the hottest prospect in world football and has been the subject of interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

After failing to sign Neymar this summer, the Spanish giants are expected to rekindle their interest in January.

However, even though the player’s current contract is not set to expire until June 2015, Santos president Luis Ribeiro believes Neymar will soon sign an improved deal.

“He is closer to a contract extension than to a move abroad,” the Santos president told Sport.

“He will sign a new contract. He has a very good salary at Santos and we’re confident that he will stay in Brazil.

“We expect him to sign shortly. We are working hard on this and expect news in the near future.”

Arsenal target set to sign new contract

Sochaux midfielder Marvin Martin is set to extend his contract with les Lionceaux, according to France Football.

The 23-year-old attracted a lot of attention from abroad with his scintillating performances in Ligue 1 and was widely tipped to leave France this summer.

Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle were just some of the interested clubs, but the player eventually remained at Sochaux.

The club chiefs are now preparing a new contract offer for the France international, so as to prevent the players from leaving on the cheap next summer.

Martin is expected to a sign a new deal until June 2015 that would guarantee him a substantial pay rise.

That, however, doesn’t mean that the player will stay at Stade Bonal until 2015 seeing that he has already expressed his desire to join a bigger club.
