Rumours surrounding the future of Arsenal’s star striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, have filled up newspaper acres so far this summer. Barcelona and AC Milan are the main suitors according to the English press, with the Catalan club having launched a £24 million bid, according to the Daily Mail. But today l’Equipe, the French football magazine reported Galliani as saying that his club is holding negotiations with Arsenal over the Togolese striker.
“The only player that we are interested in is Emmanuel Adebayor. If he does not come, then nobody will and we will just keep on playing with our current strikers,” said Galliani.
“We are currently holding talks with Arsenal but they do not want to sell at the moment. We will see how far we can go with our offer, but if the English club still does not want to sell, too bad.”
Arsenal are thought to be unwilling to sell their top striker after they have already lost Matthieu Flamini this summer and are on the verge of losing Alexander Hleb as well. But it is not all gloomy for Arsenal as BBC reported yesterday that Marseille winger Samir Nasri has agreed a contract with the Gunners.
