Emmanuel Adebayor has vowed to stay at Arsenal despite admitting he is flattered by reports that AC Milan and Chelsea are keen to sign him.
Togo striker Adebayor has been linked with a move after a lacklustre campaign, which saw him jeered several times by sections of the Emirates Stadium crowd.
But Adebayor has no intention of walking out on the Gunners because he is determined to help end Arsenal’s four-year trophy-drought.
“All I can say is I am a footballer and if a club like Milan are interested in me then I cannot lie to you, I am happy, because it is Milan,” he said on Tuesday.
“But the thing is that it stops there – I am very happy playing for Arsenal, and this is what I always say.
“At the end of the day you just get bored of this – people read these things and then the fans will boo you for what you never said, but again I repeat that I am very happy here.
“I have got nothing to say to anybody. People are always there to judge – but they are not on the pitch, they are writing what they want to.
“I cannot explain myself to those people. They think what they are saying is right.
“This season I have given 100 percent of what I have, and I’m looking forward to coming back next season and trying to achieve things.
“I don’t care what we have to do to win something – we have got to do whatever it takes to bring trophies home.”
Adebayor’s poor form was a key factor in Arsenal’s struggles this year but he blames injuries for his slump and expects to be back to his best next term.
“When you score 30 goals in a season you can expect that the following year there will be a little bit more pressure and attention on you,” Adebayor told the June issue of the official Arsenal magazine.
“If you want to be a big player you have to manage this and find a solution – that is what I have been trying to do this time.
“I cannot say I’m very proud of my season, but I’m not too upset about how the way things have gone either. I have been injured several times since August, and before this I had never had an injury of longer than a week or two in my professional career.
“This was my first season in which that happened and I have just tried to do whatever I can.
“Overall, I feel a little bit sorry for the club because I think Arsenal deserves a little bit more than what we are giving it at the moment.”
