Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Rene Adler has suffered a setback in his recovery from a long-term knee injury.
Adler has yet to feature for the club this season and lost his place in the first team to 19-year-old Bernd Leno.
Leverksuen chief executive Wolfgang Holzhauser confirmed Adler is now set to be sidelined for even longer than expected.
“The knee reacted again. He must take a four-week break from training,” Holzhauser told Bild.
With his contract ending at the end of the season, Adler is likely to leave Bayer Leverkusen in the June transfer window, as confirmed by sporting director Rudi Voller.
