Romanian forward Adrian Mutu is set to join FC Pune City in India, French daily newspaper L’Equipe has revealed.
His previous side Petrolul decided to release the 35-year-old from his contract, meaning he is now free to move to Indian Super League.
Adrian Mutu is the latest star player to feature in the opening ISL campaign, following in the footsteps of Nicolas Anelka, Robert Pires, David Trezeguet, Alessandro Del Piero and Marco Materazzi.
The well-traveled forward has spent a large chunk of his professional career in Italian Serie A, representing Inter Milan, Verona, Parma, Juventus, Fiorentina and Cesena.
His career has been on a downtrend since leaving Italy in 2012, with a two-year spell at Ajaccio followed by the return to his native country with Petrolul.
Mutu is now set for a fresh challenge that could be his last in a career that has spanned over 19 years. The former Chelsea star has 77 Romania caps to his name and 35 goals.
