Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has been passed fit for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Southampton.
The 32-year-old suffered a freak ankle injury as Jurgen Klopp’s side celebrated a penalty shoot-out defeat of Chelsea in Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup.
A supporter on the pitch slipped and hurt Adrian, leaving Klopp fuming given first-choice keeper Alisson is sidelined with a calf problem.
Had Adrian not recovered in time for the game at St Mary’s Stadium, the experienced Andy Lonergan would likely have been called upon to make a surprise Liverpool debut.
However, Liverpool confirmed on Saturday that Adrian is available, having sufficiently proved his fitness in the past 24 hours.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino have all been restored to the starting line-up for the clash with Southampton, having all come on as substitutes against Chelsea in Istanbul. Joe Gomez, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson drop to the bench.
