Adrian has decided to stay at Liverpool, according to The Daily Mail. The Spanish goalkeeper is out of contact at the former Premier League champions this summer, but he is close to agreeing terms on a contract extension at Anfield.
The 34-year-old has been on the books of Liverpool since 2019 when he joined on a free transfer after leaving West Ham United. The Spaniard is the back-up goalkeeper to Alisson, who is one of the best custodians on the planet and is a world-class player.
Adrian is a good back-up to have, and the 34-year-old reportedly staying at Anfield means that Liverpool do not have pay any transfer fee to bring in a back-up. Alisson is not going to be dislodged from his position anytime soon, and there is no point in Liverpool spending a lot of money to bring in a player who is going to spend pretty much the entire season n the substitutes’ bench.
