Barcelona defender Adriano believes Real Madrid will be his side’s biggest rival in all competitions in the 2011/12 campaign.

Reigning champions Barca sit second on the La Liga table behind bitter rivals Real, while they are both still in the race for the Champions League and Copa del Rey.

“Real Madrid will always be there right until the end. They are usually our biggest rival in all competitions,” Adriano said.

“I think the situation will be similar this year, although it will be even harder than in previous seasons.”

The Brazil international turned his attentions to the future of coach Pep Guardiola, and believes the Barcelona boss will sign a new deal.

“I think he will stay at the club. I definitely hope so because he is very important for Barca. I have learned a lot from Guardiola since I joined Barcelona,” Adriano said.

Guardiola’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the 2011/12 season, and the former midfielder has yet to make a decision about his future.
