Zambia moved top of African Cup of Nations qualifying Group C with a 3-0 victory over Mozambique on Saturday, while Burkina Faso also won.
A brace from Xanthi forward Christopher Katongo and Collins Mbesuma’s goal secured victory for Zambia, who are now two points clear of Libya and three ahead of Mozambique.
In other matches, Godfrey Walusimbi and Geoffrey Massa were on target as Uganda defeated Guinea-Bissau 2-0.
The win takes Uganda six points clear of Kenya in Group J.
Burkina Faso cemented their lead in Group F – they are now six points ahead of Gambia after a 4-1 win away to Namibia.
Ivorian-born midfielder Abdoul Razak Traore grabbed a double – the second from the penalty spot – with striker Aristide Bance also netting from the spot and Hamburg’s Jonathan Pitroipa adding a late fourth.
Cameroon’s qualification hopes are fading, and they now remain five points behind Group E leaders Senegal after the two sides played out a goalless draw in Yaounde.
Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o missed a late penalty for hosts Cameroon.
Sierra Leone remain third in Group G but closed to within two points of leaders South Africa after a 1-0 win at home to second-placed Niger, with Ibrahim Bangura claiming the only goal.
And finally, Morocco moved three points clear in Group D with a comprehensive 4-0 win over rivals Algeria.
Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh netted the second after defender Mehdi Benatia had given the hosts the lead.
Nancy’s Youssouf Hadji made it 3-0 just after the hour mark, before Oussama Assaidi completed the rout to secure bragging rights for Morocco.
