Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has withdrawn from the England squad for the friendlies against Spain and Sweden due to injury.
A statement on the FA’s website did not specify the nature of Agbonlahor’s injury and did not suggest if a replacement would be called up, though it is thought that the striker may have tweaked his hamstring.
“Gabriel Agbonlahor has this morning returned to Aston Villa,” the statement read.
“Having been assessed by the England medical staff, Agbonlahor is unable to train today at Wembley and has returned to his club.”
Agbonlahor received his first England call-up since 2009 and was expected to add to his three international caps following a good start to the season at Villa Park.
