Barcelona defender Martin Montoya is certain to leave the club in the January transfer window, the player’s official representative has revealed.
The 23-year-old was very disappointed by club’s decision to sign Douglas Pereira in the summer as a replacement for Dani Alves, leaving himself as a third choice at the right-back position.
Despite recently signing a new deal at Camp Nou, Montoya has decided to leave the Catalans in search of first team football and it appears nothing can prevent him from quitting in January.
While the club officials are trying to persuade the talented defender to stay, his agent has said in no uncertain terms that Montoya will not remain at the club beyond the winter.
“Montoya is 100 per cent leaving Barcelona in the January window,” agent Juan De Dios Carrasco told Despierta San Francisco, a program on Radio Marca.
The agent also went to suggest that clubs from Germany, England and Italy were hot on the trail of his client, who has made a total of 38 La Liga appearances since coming through the youth ranks at Camp Nou.
