Oscar Cardozo is keen to stay at Benfica amid transfer speculation of a possible move to the Premier League, according to his agent.
The Paraguay international striker is reported to be a transfer target for Manchester City and Cardiff after scoring over 150 goals during his six years at Benfica.
The 30-year-old’s representative Pedro Aldave, though, has played down talk of contact between any potential suitors and Cardozo, insisting that he will report as usual for pre-season training later this month.
“Is he certain to join Cardiff next season? I am not aware of such information,” Aldave is quoted as telling Diario de Noticias.
“Cardozo will be in Lisbon on 17th July to start pre-season training at Benfica, where he wants to stay.”
Cardozo was part of a Benfica side that endured a torrid end to last season as they were pipped to the Primeira Liga title by Porto and suffered defeats in the finals of both the UEFA Europa League and the Taca de Portugal.
