Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel could have his loan deal at AC Milan terminated in the near future, according to his official representative.
The Serie A side signed the Chelsea starlet on a season-long loan this summer, but the 21-year-old has so far made just one league appearance for the Rossoneri, while he was an unused substitute on six occasions.
And with his situation at the club unlikely to improve any time soon, van Ginkel’s agent has suggested Chelsea could decide to recall him from loan.
“The build-up in the beginning at Milan was good. Marco began the season on the bench and it was expected as he was getting used to a new club and country,” agent Karel Jansen told FOX Sports.
“But even after he recovered from the injury he has had very little time on the pitch. We were not happy about it and it went against all logic.
“We made it clear that this was not intention when he joined on loan. Marco did not have to go to Italy and do nothing. Look, if he wasn’t very good, this treatment was understandable but a fit Van Ginkel would walk into the Milan side.
“Chelsea have not pulled the plug but they might if the current situation continues.”
Marco van Ginkel joined Chelsea from Vitesse in the summer of 2013 as one of Europe’s brightest talents, but he was never given a real chance to impress at Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder did miss the first part of the season through injury after making two substitute appearances in the Premier League, and he has failed to add to that tally since.
