AS Roma defender Mario Rui is set to join Napoli, his official representative has moved to confirm.
We reported a week ago that the Azzurri boss Maurizio Sarri hopes to get reunited with the 26-year-old footballer at Stadio San Paolo, and it appears the deal is close to being completed.
Rui’s agent Mario Giuffredi revealed that his client should become a new Napoli player by Tuesday.
“He’ll undergo a medical on Monday and the transfer will become official on Tuesday,” Giuffredi told Radio Radio.
“Sarri played a key role, he knew him and the player was even more enthusiastic about moving.
“De Laurentiis likes Mario Rui likes very much, but most of the credit for the deal must go to (Napoli sporting director) Giuntoli.”
Mario Rui didn’t get to play much during the stint with AS Roma, making just five league appearances, and he is likely to face fierce competition for starting positions at Napoli as well.
