Brett Favre’s agent Bus Cook has attempted to end speculation the former MVP quarterback could yet come out of retirement next NFL season.
Favre, 41, officially retired in January after an injury-hit 2010 campaign with the Minnesota Vikings .
But it was not the first time he has called it quits, after also announcing his retirement in 2009 following his first season with the Vikings.
Prior to that, Favre claimed to be on the verge of retiring in 2008 when his 15-year association with the Green Bay Packers came to an end.
He reversed that decision to join the New York Jets for one season in 2008, yet again announcing his retirement at the end of the campaign, only to link up with the Vikings.
But Cook insists there is no foundation to the rumours suggesting Favre’s career could be resurrected for the 2011 campaign.
“Brett Favre retired in January,” Cook told The Clarion-Ledger.
“He has not talked to any teams, including Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks.”
“He has not talked to anyone about playing football. He’s retired, period.”
The latest bout of speculation that Favre could be back for a 21st season came when Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick used Twitter to express his interest in working with the three-time MVP.
“I would be honored to have Brett Farve as a backup,” Vick tweeted last week.
“That will be amazing learning how to toy with defenses the way he did his whole career.”
