The agent of QPR midfielder Joey Barton has admitted that his client is ready to accept an offer from Marseille.
The controversial midfielder is expected to leave Loftus Road this summer after he was slapped with a 12-match ban from the English FA.
Given that the suspension only applies to English league system, he is free to play football abroad and is hoping to leave the club before the end of the transfer window.
QPR boss Mark Hughes has confirmed that the player is in talks with Marseille over a season-long loan, and now Barton’s own representative has revealed that the 29-year-old is interested in joining OM.
“Joey wants to play at Marseille next season,” agent Willie McKay said to Radio Monte Carlo.
“We are in negotiations, nothing is done for the time being.”
Barton is currently earning around €250,000 per month and QPR have suggested that Marseille pay at least half of his wages during the loan spell at Velodrome.
However, this could be too high for the French club, as they are looking to save money anywhere they can.
