Agent reveals Capdevila set to quit Benfica

Spanish full-back Joan Capdevila is one the verge of leaving Benfica, according to his agent.

The player arrived to Benfica in the summer, one year after winning the 2010 World Cup with Spain, but he failed to convince the club chiefs that he deserves a place in the side.

The 33-year-old was left out of Benfica’s Champions League squad, which hinted that coach Jorge Jesus doesn’t think highly of him.

The Spaniard featured in just one game for the Eagles this term and it is now more than evident that he will leave the club in January.  This was also confirmed by his official representative.

“We are working to resolve the issue of Capdevila’s transfer,” his agent Horacio Gaggioli told Radio Renascenca.

“Although there is nothing concrete, the player is sad, but that is life.”
