Hoffenheim forward Ryan Babel is negotiating a deal with Fiorentina, according to the player’s representative.
The Serie A side have heavily reinforced the squad over the summer, capturing the likes of Alberto Aquilani, Borja Valero and Matias Fernandez, among others, but it appears the recruitment is still not over.
Viola are currently in talks with Hoffenheim forward Ryan Babel, as confirmed by the player’s representative.
“I’ve received permission from Hoffenheim to try and close the affair with Fiorentina,” agent Winnie Haatrecht said to Algemen Dagblad. “We’re in discussions but there’s no deal yet.”
The Dutch forward joined Hoffenheim in a €7 million deal from Liverpool in January 2011, but has had a pretty disappointing start to his career in Germany.
After scoring just 5 goals in 46 Bundesliga games, the 25-year-old was told to find a new club at the end of last season by Hoffenheim boss Markus Babbel.
Given that his high wage is proving to be a problem for the Bundesliga side, there is every chance that Fiorentina will be able to sign him at a cut-back price.
