Agent: Valencia fits van der Wiel

Valencia is the perfect club for Ajax right-back Gregory van der Wiel, according to the player’s agent Hakim Slimani.

The Spanish side have shown an interest in the 23-year-old and are understood to be negotiating a fee with the Amsterdam giants.

Slimani is confident that a deal can be agreed between the two clubs and says the Netherlands international is ready to leave the Eredivisie champions for a Spanish adventure.

“Valencia is the ideal club and Gregory has already set his sights on a move to Spain,” Slimani told Volkskrant.

“It is now between the clubs to agree a fee but I’m sure that’s coming along well.”

“The chance that he will leave Ajax in the winter is small. But you never know. The transfer will probably be completed next summer.”

Van der Wiel has been at Ajax since the age of seven and has been a key member of the first team since the 2008-09 season. He has featured 29 times for the Netherlands.
