Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero wants to remain in La Liga next season but has not ruled out a move to England or Italy.

Aguero, 23, publicly announced his desire to leave Atletico on May 24 after five seasons with the club.

The Argentine international has reportedly been a long-term target of Premier League side Chelsea, but it appears his preference is to remain in Spain.

“I would like to continue in La Liga if possible,” Aguero told TyC Sports. “I like England and Italy but I prefer Spain.”

“I’m leaving the door open for all the clubs that are interested in me. I have told the club that I really want to leave. I hope they make the effort to do what’s best for me.”

Aguero has also been linked with a switch across the Spanish capital to Atletico’s local rivals Real Madrid.

Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern Munich have been touted as other potential destinations, with the buyout clause in Aguero’s contract rumoured to be close to 40 million euros.

Atletico paid Independiente approximately 23 million euros for Aguero back in 2006, after he scored 23 goals in 54 first-team appearances for the Argentine club.
