Manchester City are hoping to tie down Sergio Aguero to a new contract before Pep Guardiola begins work as manager, according to the Mail Online.
The twenty-seven year old’s current deal runs until the end of the 2018/19 campaign, but City want him to commit himself for a further year.
Aguero has previously said that he wants to end his career where it started – at Argentine side Independiente.
He scored his one hundred and twenty-fourth goal for the Citizens in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Premier League leaders Leicester City
Guardiola will replace Manuel Pellegrini as manager in the summer, and the Spaniard will be keen to have the striker tied down to a new deal from the off.
The 2014 Premier League champions are six points behind Leicester following Saturday’s result and can now be backed at a price of 10/3 to win the title.
