Sergio Aguero has reassured Manchester City fans that he will not be leaving the club for Spanish giants Real Madrid, as it would be a ‘betrayal’ to his former employers Atletico Madrid, according to the Metro.
Aguero is currently one of the highest-rated strikers in European football after having a number of successful seasons in La Liga for Athletico and then scoring 30 goals across all competitions in his debut campaign for the Citizens.
This form had linked him with a shock move away from the Etihad Stadium – as Jose Mourinho wanted to do all he could to bring the Argentinean to the Bernabeu in the summer transfer window.
However, Mourinho could not convince the hierarchy at the club to make a move for the striker, as they feared he would have cost too much.
But Aguero insists that even if they did come knocking or if they do in the future, he will not be going to Real.
He said: “I had great memories at Atletico and I could not betray them by joining Real”
It looks as though the 24-year-old now want to do all he can to help City to another English Premier League trophy and help them mount a big challenge in the Champions League.
