Aiden McGeady hints at Premier League move
The agent of Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady has revealed that the Ireland international is interested in moving to the English Premier League.
The 26-year-old was followed by top clubs from England during his time at Celtic, but he eventually opted to join Spartak Moscow in a €12 million deal.
The highly rated midfielder has enjoyed a bright start to his career in Russia, but his representative confirms that McGeady would love to play in the English Premier League.
“There has been interest in Aiden from English clubs going right back to when he played for Celtic, so it’s nothing new,” agent Jan Dreyer told the Daily Record.
“Now Aiden is doing well in the Russian Premier League and is about to play in the Champions League, so that will only add to interest in him.
“If Spartak received a serious offer, Aiden would definitely consider it.”
Aiden McGeady has scored 7 goals in 48 Russian Premier League games, while scoring another goal in 14 European appearances for the club.
Nelson Valdez wants permanent Valencia switch
Paraguayan striker Nelson Valdez admits he is hoping to turn his loan move at Valencia into a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old surprisingly joined Rubin Kazan when Hercules were relegated to the second division, but he was loaned to los Che in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Valdez now confesses that he is likely to remain at Mestalla after his loan deal expires at the end of the season.
“I signed a three-year deal with Valencia. With other viable options. For example, a right of first refusal for Valencia,” the Paraguay international explained to Sport Bild.
“Now, I only want to stay in Valencia for three years. We have a house in Mallorca, I want us to settle quickly after the end of football career and I feel good.”
The highly rated forward has made three substitute appearances for los Che this season, but he is expected to start tonight’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich.
Emile Heskey moves to Australia
Veteran striker Emile Heskey has signed a one-year deal with Australian side Newcastle Jets, according to Daily Telegraph.
The deal is subject to the player passing a medical and he is expected to arrive in Australia some time next week.
Heskey has been a free agent since he was released from his contract at Aston Villa earlier this summer, and was paired with a number of Championship sides.
However, he ultimately decided to accept an offer from Newcastle Jets, which will make him second high-profile player to arrive in A-League, following Alessandro Del Piero, who joined Sidney FC.
The 34-year-old has spent his entire career in England, appearing for Leicester City, Liverpool, Birmingham, Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa.
Heskey has scored 111 goals in 507 Premier League games, while netting 7 times in 62 England caps.
The veteran striker has been heavily criticized for failing to find the net last season, but his experience should prove to be an asset for the Newcastle Jets.
