French Ligue 1 side Ajaccio have revealed they have reached an agreement with Romanian forward Adrian Mutu.
The 33-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 side, but the problem is he still has one year left on his deal with Cesena.
The former Romanian international is, however, hoping his contract with the Serie A outfit will be terminated by mutual consent, which would allow him to sign for Ajaccio.
“We have an agreement with Mutu and with his agents,” Ajaccio president Alain Orsoni told Radio Monte Carlo. “Now the player needs to agree terms with Cesena.
“Mutu is an excellent attacker and I hope he can wear our colours as soon as possible.”
Mutu joined Cesena on a free transfer from Fiorentina last summer and he did well to kick start his career at Stadio Dino Manuzzi, scoring 8 goals in 28 Serie A games for Il Cavallucci Marini.
In spite of his solid showings, the club were relegated to Serie B and the Romanian forward subsequently expressed his desire to leave the side from Romagna.
The player, who also had spells with Inter, Parma, Chelsea and Juventus, is now set for a new adventure and a move to French Ligue 1.
