(GSM) – Ajax are the new sole leaders in the Dutch Eredivisie following a 1-2 win at arch rivals Feyenoord, while PSV drew 0-0 at Roda JC.

The Dutch classic between Feyenoord and Ajax featured a struggling home side which has not been able to compete for the top spots in recent years. The visitors on the other hand, are looking to win their first league title since 2004 but have usually come close in years between.

Ajax dominated throughout most of the match at Rotterdam’s Kuip stadium, and took the lead through Siem de Jong in the 40th minute. In the 56th, Mounir El Hamdaoui doubled the gap.

Andre Bahia pulled one back in the 79th minute and Feyenoord even pressurized the opposing defense in the final phase, but failed to find the target again.

As PSV Eindhoven were held to a goalless draw at Roda JC, Ajax are now the only remaining leaders in the Eredivisie.

Defending champions Twente played away to Heracles and even a red card to Mark-Jan Fledderus of the home side in the 45th minute, was not enough for the visitors to make a difference, 0-0.
