Dutch heavyweights Ajax are reportedly closing in on a deal with the Club America youngster Diego Lopez.
The talented teenager has just won the Liga MX title on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Cruz Azul which is expected to be his final game for Club America.
It was Univision who first reported the news of Lainez’s move to Europe, claiming that Club America received a formal offer for the 18-year-old forward.
Ligue 1 powerhouse Lyon have also been linked with a move for the Mexican prospect but the latest reports suggest Ajax are now sitting in pole position to sign him this winter. Dutch heavyweights already have a couple of Mexican players among their ranks – such as Hirving Lozano and Erik Gutierrez – who are expected to help Ajax close the deal for one of the biggest talents in South America.
Lainez previously indicated a move to Europe was in his plans for the future but would not discuss the situation having just only won the league title.
“You know what my dream is. Today we celebrate and tomorrow we can talk about other things”, Lainez told after the Sunday victory.
