Eredivisie champions Ajax have moved to confirm reports linking highly rated defender Niklas Moisander with a January exit.
The 28-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Amsterdam ArenA, and given that he is not interested in signing a new deal, the Finland international is widely expected to be sold in the winter.
Ajax boss Frank de Boer has admitted that Moisander will probably be leaving in the January transfer window.
“Ultimately, it is our intention to sell him in the next transfer window,” de Boer told reporters.
The talented coach also moved to suggest that Moisander could lose his starting berth as he aims to field players who have a long-term future at Ajax such as Stefano Denswil.
Niklas Moisander initially joined Ajax from TPS in 2004, but he left the club two years later and had to prove his worth at Zwolle and AZ Alkmaar before returning to Amsterdam ArenA in 2012.
After failing to make a single league appearance during his first spell, Moisander had an important role to play over the past two years, making 52 Eredivisie outings and scoring 5 goals.
