Dutch giants Ajax are considering a move for Montpellier striker Anthony Mounier, according to French media outlet L’Equipe.
The Amsterdammers are not exactly spoilt for options up front, with Viktor Fischer currently the only centre forward in the squad.
As a result, they are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements, with Anthony Mounier apparently high on their wish list.
Ajax scouts took another look at the 27-year-old as he played for Nice in a 7-0 friendly win over Mende, with the forward scoring one goal in the process.
Greek giants Olympiakos and Ligue 1 high flyers Saint Etienne were also keen on his services, but the Amsterdammers have emerged as the favourites for his signature.
Anthony Mounier, who had come through the youth ranks at Lyon, also played for Nice before joining Montpellier three years ago, and he went on to score 14 goals in 94 matches for la Paillade.
