With recent reports claiming Jordan Henderson is looking to a way to leave Saudi Arabia as soon as possible, several Premier League clubs are said to be keen on bringing the former Liverpool captain back to his homeland. Apparently, there is interest in the Bundesliga as well, and the latest bit of news on that front, coming from ESPN, is that Ajax are interested in his services too.
Henderson left Liverpool for Al-Ettifaq last summer, as part of a notable top-star exodus from Europe to Saudi Arabia. But despite saying he had no regrets over that decision back in October, it seems he wants out only three months later.
Meanwhile, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Al-Ettifaq have no intention of letting Henderson leave at the moment, and they’ve scheduled face-to-face talks with the 33-year-old midfielder to go over his reasons and demands for next week. Manager Steven Gerrard, Henderson’s former teammate at Liverpool, is expected to represent the Saudi club in those talks.
